The Gay Wedding Experience

Hello everyone. My name is Brian and I’m engaged. My partner Tom and I have been together for almost 9 years. And finally, after all of this time, on December 7th, 2009 he got down on one knee, and on stage,  in front of my family and friends at his cabaret show, he asked me to be his husband. My throat closed to the point that I couldn’t speak. As tears ran down my face, I mustered the best head nod I could manage before lifting him from the ground to kiss him.

We decided to wait until after the New Year to discuss wedding plans. Now it is January 21st. For 3 weeks we have had very little luck nailing anything down. We also couldn’t help but notice that there isn’t a lot of information out there on gay weddings. So- it seems we are on our own, which is a great and terrifying thing. We can do whatever we want; but at the same time- all of the options are too overwhelming.

This site will chronicle our journey to create the best wedding we can. We hope you enjoy our quest, and ultimately, we hope that other gay couples can find our story helpful in the creation of their own weddings. So, here we go.
